2007-08 Curriculum

The Kennewick School District Navigation 101 team is pleased to present an upgraded curriculum. It includes lesson plans for each grade level from grades 9 through 12 for each of the high school programs.

The purpose of the Navigation 101 program is to empower students to make the education system work for them, so that they can take charge of their own future.  This personalized learning plan helps students become contributing, productive citizens by understanding how to navigate high school.  Students will graduate witha specific plan for life after high school that involves college, work, military, technical school, industrial certification, or another option.

There are three important components to each student's personalized plan:

* Advisories provide a long-term connection between staff and students in developing their high school and beyond plan through a series of structured lessons.

* Portfolio requirements include plans for post-high school experiences, academic progress and evidence of exemplary work, and record of school and community involvement.

* Students present their portfolio to their parents and advisor at an annual Student-Led Conference outlining its meaning to them in their academic growth.

The dates of the Navigation Advisories for the 2007-08 School Year are:

September 12, September 19, October 10, October 17, November 7, November 14, December 12, February 6, February 13, March 5, March 19, and April 30.

Student-Led Conferences will take place at the high schools on March 25th and 26th.
