Martin

Hello readers I introduce myself
My name is MARTIN MAHIEU (I know it's hard), I'm a junior of fiveteen years, I'm in America for ten months as a foreign exchange student and I come from Tahiti
(in French Polynésia of the Pacific ocean).
First of all, I'll tell you about my home country, life there, as well as my life here in the USA,
then I'll  mention what I think about your school (Kamiakin High School).
Then lastly I'll say what I would like to do in the future.

Alright, let's talk of Tahiti. I guess that when you hear of Tahiti, you think of a warm climate and beautiful lagoon, but
first you have to know that Tahiti is one of the islands of the polynésian triangle which is composed of Hawaii, New-Zealand and Pâques Island. So Tahiti is nearly situated in the middle of the triangle
The French polynésia contains 5 archipells who are the following :

-The Islands Of Society (island of the wind & island under the wind)
-The Tuamutu (Tahitian world)
-The Gambier
-The Austral
-The Marquesas

My country belongs to France (it's one of the french colonies). So this means that over there we speak French, which is the main language, and also Tahitian (which goes back to the epoch of the Mahories). French Polynésia's flag (because Tahiti doesn't have her own flag) shows five men (for the five archipells) on a boat (who represent the traditional boats) on five waves (which also represent the five archipells ) and a sun behind them. Tahiti has a small twin sister called Moorea which is situated eighteen Km from her big sister. Moorea is 60 Km in perimeter, has 12,500 inhabitants and has a strange shape of a heart with two bays at the top, (the bay of Opunohu and the bay of Cook). There are ferrys which travel between those two islands, and that company is called Moorea Ferry.

The highest mountain of Moorea is Mont Tohiea and is 1207m high.
Moorea has several myths but the most famous of them is the myth of the Giant Pai .
This myth is pretty short but interesting. It says that one day a giant (Half God) called Pai was angry with someone so he threw his spear at the top of a mountain but the spear went through this mountain and it's made a little hole at the top .
Today we can still see the hole that Pai's spear made , that why we gave her the name of the pierced Mountain (Moua Puta in Tahitian).
Tahiti (with 266,339 million inhabitants in a perimeter of 115 Km) is composed of two parts. The most developed cities are situated on the bigger one. Tahiti is the capital of the French Polynésia and her own capital is Papeete.
Tahiti have only one airport in Faa'a and the name of our company is Air Tahiti Nui (ATN)
When you arrive over there a traditional band receives you warmly by playing some Tahitian music with the Ukulele (Traditional Guitar) and beautiful girls in Tahitian dresses give you Tiare flowers.
My own country has lots of natural resources like the cascades, the fishes, the wonderful panoramic views, the pearls, the fruits but also some commercials products like coconut oil (call MonoÏ), pearls,
beer (Hinano), wine, tropical juices, tattoos, and the most famous- vanilla.

The main sports are surfboarding, kayaking (Va'a in Tahitian) parachuting, the parapant, kite surfing, and wakeboarding.
The average temperature  is 30 degrees °C (equal 86 °F) except in a period that we call "Austral Winter." (We don't really have seasons)
There is no snow in Tahiti since our mountain, which is called "Oroheno," is only 2241 m high.

Now of you know all about my country. Let's talk about me.

I was adopted in Africa when I was a baby by Caroline Borgoo & Eric Mahieu who are for me, my parents because I never knew my biologics parents. But unfortunately my adoptive parents divorced and actually I live with my mom & my father in law named Cyril Nicolas (which I consider as my second father) in Tahiti.
I only see my father (Eric Mahieu) one month per years because he still lives in Africa with another woman. They had 3 children together (which I consider as my brothers & sister).
There're :
- Juliette (10 years old)
- Ulyse (6 years old)
- & the last one Raphael (one & a half years old).
I also have a twin sister, Josephine (we've been adopted at the same time). Joséphine is doing an exchange student program like me but in Oklahoma. So we're very far away each other (that sucks!) Well my mom and second father are the directors of an elevator company but my mother also gives piano lessons, water aerobic lessons and fitness lessons so they're very busy.
I've been practicing athletics and actually I play tennis. I also like the skateboard. My main activity is music. I started playing drums six years ago, learned the guitar on my own for three years and played piano for four years (but I stopped three years ago and I lost all my skills)
Here I live at the HUERTA's house. I have four host brothers : Daran (23 years old), Breck(17 years old), Marvin (16years old, another exchange student from Germany, my roommate) and Conor (14 years old). I used to have a host sister but she lives in Seattle, so there're a total of seven people living in the house! My host family has some pets, actualy three dogs and three cats. It's already a lot for me because at home, I have only one tiny dog  named vanilla (yes like the flavor)

Otherwise I like your school, Guys and especially your school spirit. I like the football games because every body wears funny clothing and enjoy the game together and you have a lots of activities like the drama plays, sale of shcool t-shirts or else all the clubs and stuffs.
Well, what I'm trying to say it's that I realy like your high school because she's realy different of mine.
For example in my high school named Paul Guauguin (the name of a famous peruvian pinter)
we do not have the oportunity to choose our classes, it depend of which course of study you chose (Literature,Scientific, or Science economic and social). We can also see differences in the schedules, ours change all the days and while yours stay always the same.
Then we always have the same pupils in our class so it's more easy to make severals friends.

After the highschool I envisage to join a optical school to become in the future an optician.
