Enroll in Classes
Do you have any students who are struggling with phonics and learning to read?

There's an on-line program that is designed for a struggling beginning reader.  It would work well with an existing reading program that provides comprehension etc...  MCP is signed up for a free 60-day trial.

Mid-Columbia Parent Partnership (MCP) is sponsored by Kennewick School District. We work together with home-schooling families in the Tri-Cities. A variety of enrollment options help meet the needs and desires of our families. Options range from full-time Alternative Learning Experiences to part-time enrollment for home-schoolers wanting supplemental classes. Classes are provided onsite at MCP and at off-site community learning centers. All of our enrollment options are explained in more detail in our Family Handbook.

In 2003 several home-schooling families cooperated with district personnel to create MCP. Our Coordinator, Kelly Anderson, has taught elementary classes in the Tri-Cities and in Portland, and home-schooled for 6 years. Her education, experience, and dedication to home-schooling has been instrumental in the program's growth. We have additional staff and teachers who also home-school their children and participate in the program.

At MCP we rely on our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) for valuable insights and input on what home-schooling families need and how we can better serve our students. PAC meets monthly to discuss important program issues including how to encourage growth and parent involvement, improving the education of our children, and providing needed services and support to our families. All interested parents are encouraged to come to the meetings.

If you'd like more information about MCP, please call our office at 222-5036 or send an e-mail to Kelly.Anderson@ksd.org or Lorna.Petersen@ksd.org.
